back to school

It’s Back to School season, and with the cost of everything skyrocketing, it’s necessary to get creative. Instead of spending money on certain necessities like pens, highliters, glue, post-its, tote bags, clips, etc., start collecting free office supplies. To start your own reserve of goodies, register for trade shows, conventions and expos, where a wealth of freebies are available for the taking. Vendors/employers will have promotional "gifts" sitting out, hoping to attract people to their tables. With some vendors, you may need to ask for a sample. Some expos/conventions are free, where others may require a fee. When entrance requires a registration fee, you can always contact them and see if there are any volunteer positions, which will not only grant you free access to the convention, but first dibs on all the free loot. Here are some examples of expos/conventions: Career expos (free), college conventions (also free), anime/toy/game conventions (may require reg fee), you get the idea. To find local conventions and expos in your area, use Google, your local paper, or use a convention site like AllConventions.com.

Tip: When you prepare to attend these conventions, make sure you dress the part. It goes without saying: f you attend a professional event, dress professionally. Heck, you may even get a job while "shopping for freebies."
